Kenya's first official single, "My (Lost) Dope Boy," was slated for a 4/18 release. We planned things out perfectly, giving ourselves more than enough time to get the single to the distributor in time for the release date. Everything was a go and seemed all set, and then....nothing. The single sat in limbo for nearly a month with no real explanation from our distributor. I even uploaded our joint single, "Cocoa Butter," for a later release date, and it went through without a hitch in less than a week. We were patient but ultimately decided to push back the release for now. The unpredictability of this process aligns perfectly with 2020 thus far. We are in the middle of a pandemic of all things. It can be frustrating when things don't go the way you plan, and you find yourself wondering if it's even worth it. But at the end of the day, how often do things go exactly as planned? You have to push through the frustration and stay the course. It's all about the love and the hope that you can move a few souls with your music. It's all about the feeling of accomplishing a goal you have for yourself. It's all about conquering fear and self-doubts and just doing what the hell you want to do. So you trust the process. And you keep that shit moving.
